Orangutans are great apes native to the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. They are known for their striking reddish-brown fur, long arms, and large bodies. Orangutans are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend most of their lives in trees, where they move with grace and dexterity. Their long arms, which can stretch as wide as 7 feet, allow them to easily swing from branch to branch, a mode of locomotion known as brachiation.
Orangutans are known for their high level of intelligence. They use tools in the wild, such as sticks to extract insects from tree bark or to test the depth of water. They have also been observed using leaves as makeshift gloves to handle spiny fruits or as umbrellas to shield themselves from rain. This intelligence is accompanied by a slow life history; orangutans have long lifespans, low reproductive rates, and extended periods of juvenile dependency. Mothers typically care for their young for up to eight years, teaching them vital survival skills.

STANDARD SERVICE: All items ship from our Southampton, NY location within 1-2 business days. Orders with Standard service will be shipped via USPS First Class, USPS Priority Mail, UPS Ground, UPS Surepost, or FedEx Home Delivery.
EXPEDITED SERVICE: Please call us for a quote if you wish to have your items shipped using an expedited shipping service such as UPS Two Day or Next Day..

Items Lost or Damaged in Transit
Please contact us by email or calling in the event your shipment is lost or damaged. In the event of visible damage, please keep all packaging material. Stevenson’s will provide tracking numbers for all shipments and is not responsible for items not received that the tracking shows as having been delivered.
